What material specifications do you offer for Woven Gabions?


We strictly manufacture our woven gabions in full compliance with ASTM A975 (Standard Specification for Double-Twisted Hexagonal Mesh Gabions and Revet Mattresses). We offer the four standard material styles specified by ASTM:
Style 1: Double-twisted mesh from wire galvanized with a zinc coating (Zinc-Coated).
Style 2: Double-twisted mesh from wire coated with zinc-5% aluminum-mischmetal (Zn-5Al-MM) alloy, commonly known as Galfan.
Style 3: Double-twisted mesh as Style 1 and overcoated with a PVC/Polymer protective coating.
Style 4: Double-twisted mesh as Style 2 (Galfan) and overcoated with a PVC/Polymer protective coating.

What is the lifespan of different coatings under ASTM A975?


Lifespan depends entirely on the environment (soil chemistry, water pH, and salinity):
Heavy Zinc Coated (Style 1): Designed for mild, dry, or rural environments; offers a service life of 15 to 25 years.
Galfan Coated (Style 2): Provides more than twice the corrosion resistance of traditional galvanization, performing excellently in wet environments for 30 to 50 years.
Galfan + PVC Coated (Style 4): The ultimate solution for harsh coastal erosion, marine, or highly acidic riverbank projects. The polymer shield prevents chemical attack, delivering a design life of up to 70+ years.

How do you guarantee your PVC/Polymer coating won't crack or fade?


In compliance with ASTM A975, we use only 100% virgin PVC/Polymer raw materials (no recycled compounds). Our polymer coating is engineered with advanced UV stabilizers and carbon black to resist brittle failure and discoloration under intense solar radiation.
Per ASTM A975 testing requirements, our PVC maintains its integrity without cracking or losing adhesion even when wrapped around a mandrel 4 times the wire diameter, and shows zero degradation after 2,000 hours of Salt Spray and UV exposure testing.

What are your standard mesh sizes, wire diameters, and allowed tolerances?


We supply the standard ASTM A975 configurations. Our standard mesh type is the Style 1, 2, 3, or 4 double-twisted mesh with an 8x10 mesh opening (nominal size 3.25 x 4.5 inches / approx. 83x114 mm).
Mesh Wire Diameter: 0.118 or 0.106 inches (3.0 mm or 2.7 mm)
Tolerances: Wire diameter tolerances strictly comply with ASTM A641 (for zinc) and ASTM A856 (for Galfan), ensuring an allowable variance of less than ±0.003 inches (±0.08 mm). We guarantee no under-gauged or thin wire delivery.

What is the twist length, and why is "Double-Twisted" required?


ASTM A975 dictates that the mesh must be Double-Twisted (hexagonal). This mechanical twist involves interlocking pairs of wires with a minimum of three half-turns (commonly called double-twist). The twist length is tightly controlled to prevent unravelling. Unlike welded mesh, this double-twisted structure provides exceptional non-unraveling flexibility; if a single wire is accidentally cut or broken, the rest of the basket maintains its structural integrity and won't unweave.

Do your Selvedge and Lacing wires match the ASTM strength requirements?


Yes. To ensure the box corners can withstand extreme earth pressures, ASTM A975 requires the Selvedge Wire (edge wire) to be thicker than the body mesh wire.
For 0.106" (2.7 mm) mesh wire, we use a 0.134" (3.4 mm) Selvedge wire.
For 0.118" (3.0 mm) mesh wire, we use a 0.153" (3.9 mm) Selvedge wire.
Lacing Wire (Tie wire): Supplied at 0.087 inches (2.2 mm) to facilitate easy manual binding while meeting all tensile strength requirements.

Can you provide Mill Test Certificates and third-party inspection reports?


Absolutely. Every shipment comes with a comprehensive Mill Test Certificate (MTC) documenting the wire heat number, tensile strength (minimum 60,000 psi / 415 MPa per ASTM standards), elongation, and exact coating weight (e.g., minimum 0.80 oz/ft² or 244 g/m² for heavy zinc-coated wire). We welcome and frequently work with independent test labs like SGS, Intertek, and BV to issue compliance certificates before dispatch.

How are the gabion baskets packed, and what is the container loading capacity?


Woven gabions are highly flexible, allowing them to be folded flat and packed into compressed, heavy-duty industrial bundles bound with steel straps.
Loading Capacity: Depending on the specific basket dimensions and target port weight regulations, a 40ft HQ container can typically accommodate 25 to 27 Metric Tons of flat-packed gabions. This high packing density drastically reduces your ocean freight cost per unit.

Are internal partitions included, and how are they attached?


Yes. To prevent rock migration and structural bulging, our gabion boxes are equipped with internal diaphragms (partitions) spaced at 1-meter (3.3 feet) intervals. Following standard engineering practices, these diaphragms are securely secured at the base during the factory weaving process, allowing them to be easily folded up and laced into position on-site.

Do you provide installation accessories or structural connection tools?


We provide a complete, one-stop solution. Along with the baskets, we supply an ample volume of Lacing Wire (approx. 5% to 7% of the total gabion weight) at no extra charge. If your project specifies a faster mechanical connection, we can also supply heavy-duty C-rings (Hog Rings) and pneumatic or manual Hog Ring Guns to accelerate your site assembly speed by over 300%.
